“The first Turkish company who organized an international congress, abroad”

Alabanda is known to be the first company to organize international medical congresses outside Turkey. The First Int’l Meeting of Ethics, Science and Moral Philosophy of Assisted Human Reproduction (2004, The Royal Society) and the 6th International Symposium on Preimplantation Diagnosis (2005, QEIICC) were organized by Alabanda in London, with a great success.

A Turkish company, Alabanda, organized “The Sixth International Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Symposium” in London with more than 500 distinguished participants at London Queen Elizabeth conference Center.

The scientific program of the symposium was prepared by Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis International Society (PGDIS) which is in U.S.A.

Besides, the celebration of “2 Million IVF and Thousands PGD Babies” had been organized by Alabanda in parallel with the symposium, at London Queen Elizabeth Congress Center in London.

“63-Year-Old Woman Becomes a Mother”
“Lesbian Couple Wants Deaf Children”
“Baby Born from Dead Father’s Sperm”
“The Girl Born to Save Her Sister’s Life”
Not a day goes by without headlines like this in the world’s newspapers, or “The First Human Clone is coming soon”.

There is no doubt that the breathtaking advances of human genetics and assisted reproduction raise strong emotions and raise puzzling moral questions for which most of us are not prepared.”

Prof. Robert G Edwards

First International Conference on Ethics, Science and Moral Philosophy of Assisted Human Reproduction was organized by Alabanda Tourism for the first time in the world at the London Royal Society Conference Hall, in 2004. Nobel prize winner Prof. Dr. Robert Edwards, known as the father of IVF, chaired the conference. Robert Edwards, Edgar Dahl and Refik Kutluer were the 3 members of the Scientific Committee and the meetings continued in İstanbul and Berlin.

What is reproductive freedom? When will the state have the right to interfere in the reproductive choices of its citizens? How should assisted reproduction practice be organized to ensure the well-being of children? Do certain reproductive technologies, such as reproductive cloning, genetic enhancement, or biased sex selection, violate the principle of human dignity? And: Are they taking us down a slippery slope towards Brave New World?

Morally debated main topics of the conference are;

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis, embryo donation, postmenopausal mothers, lesbian couples, stem cells, pre-conceptional sex selection, cloning, established pregnancies for surrogate mothers.

To improve the public debate on the ethical, legal and social implications of new reproductive technologies, 150 world’s leading genetics, ethics and legal experts participated in the discussion and shared their views on key issues in reproductive medicine.

The final declarations of the conferences were shared with the Parliments of the World.

Following the very successful opening conference at the Royal Society of London, the second conference was designed to examine the current status of in vitro fertilization treatments (assisted reproductive techniques) from a scientific and moral point of view and the whole conference organization was continued by Alabanda in Istanbul.

Morally debated main topics of the conference are;

  • The emergence of assisted reproductive techniques,
  • Policies and legal regulations in Turkey and in the world,
  • Designer baby,
  • Embryo rights,
  • Pre-pregnancy sex determination,
  • Preimplantation genetic diagnosis methods and their use for treatment,
  • Egg and embryo donation,
  • Surrogacy,
  • Post-menopausal motherhood,
  • LGBT parenting,
  • Voluntary abortion,
  • Stem cells,
  • Cloning for reproductive treatment

Finally, a plenary session, which focused on the legal, moral and philosophical aspects of assisted reproductive techniques in different cultures, was held at the conference and attracted a lot of attention.

High Level Meeting in “Hybrid” Format!

Hybrid meetings mean that besides the physically participating guests there are guests who attend the meeting online, and they can also be part of the day’s discussions and post their questions and comments simultaneously.

It was appreciated by all participants that the high-level meeting, organized by Alabanda Tourism in Ankara, was held very effectively during the pandemic period. Since the meeting was held in hybrid format, valuable speakers and participants from various countries of the world followed the meeting moment by moment and actively participated.

The event was organized by UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as a High-Level Meeting on Promoting Agricultural Livelihoods and Enhancing Social Protection for the Syrians under Temporary Protection and the Host Communities under their Syrian Refugee Response Program (SRRP) as funded by their own resources.

The project aims to improve the quality of life of the Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities by increasing their capacity in agriculture sector to find better employment opportunities and self-sustain their lives.

The project supports the empowerment of refugees and host communities in Kilis and Şanlıurfa provinces, as well as provides theoretical and vocational training on agricultural skills. It also aims to foster social cohesion between refugees and host communities.

The 28th International Pediatric Neurosurgery Congress which was chaired by Prof. Dr. Saffet Mutluer and hosted by Alabanda, was held in Istanbul in 2000 with approximately 350 participants.

ISPN’s 28th Congress, the first and only congress of the new and old millennium, is remembered as a very exciting event that offers the opportunity to live and discuss the past and future of Pediatric Neurosurgery. The differences in practice as a result of geographical and economic differences had also been discussed besides prestigious academic information and unforgettable social programs.

We have organized the 28th Istanbul Swissotel The Bosphorus. In scope of the reactions and messages we received during and after the “International Pediatric Neurosurgery Congress”, the congress had been extraordinarily successful.

It is also a big honor and pride for us that, as stated in most of the feedbacks we received after the congress, 28th congress held in Istanbul is the most successful in terms of social, scientific and technical aspects among all other ISPN congresses.

I would like to express my thanks and congratulations to all ALABANDA team for their excellent and hard work during the preparation period, which started two years ago, and incredible efforts during the congress period. I sincerely believe that you will continue your success in the future and wish you continued success.”

Alabanda Tourism brought together 5000 Nature Friends from 28 countries in Antalya!

The 12th Nature and Folk Sports (IVV) Olympiad, which was brought to Turkey by the efforts of the Turkish Federation of Environment and Nature Friends and Alabanda Tourism, was held in Antalya.

The International Folk Sports Association (IVV – InternationalerVolkssportVerband), headquartered in Germany, has a total of 3 million members. The “Nature and Folk Sports Olympiad”, which is traditionally the biggest organization and is held in a different country every two years, attracts a lot of attention.

Thousands of nature friends from all over the world came together in Antalya and engaged in environmentally beneficial activities while doing hiking, cycling and swimming sports on various predetermined tracks. In addition to the two main Olympic villages established in Antalya Glass Pyramid and Kemer Mustafa Ertuğrul Park, the starting and ending points were established in Kurşunlu Waterfall National Park and Lara Beach. Thousands of foreigners, who set out from the Olympic villages, were left alone with nature by walking in places that most Turkish citizens do not even know, or even have never stepped foot before. The main tracks where sports branches take place were Antalya-Kaleiçi-Fener Mah, Lara Urban Forest, Kurşunlu National Park, Kemer-Gedelme-İkiz Karataşlar regions.

Starting from 1989, the Netherlands, France, Greece, Finland, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia and Japan hosted the IVV Olympiad, which is organized every two years by the Union, which consists of 52 member countries, including Turkey. Antalya was a candidate for the 12th Nature and Folk Sports (IVV) Olympiad held in 2011, and it was unanimously accepted by the international committee that it shall be held in Turkey as a result of the promotional activities made by the Union and Alabanda.

At the closing ceremony of the organization held in Japan in 2009, the Turkish Flag was hoisted, our National Anthem was played, and the flag was delivered to Turkey and it was announced that Turkey would host IVV in 2011. Small Turkish flags carried by thousands of people from all nationalities, from seven to seventy, have been our source of pride.

The lighting of the Olympic torch for the first time from Antalya Olympos (Yanartaş) was accepted by the IVV center thanks to the initiatives of Alabanda Tourism General Manager Refik Kutluer. According to legends, Olympos in Antalya is the place where the starting fire of the first Olympics in history was lit. In his presentation at the opening ceremony, Refik Kutluer gave interesting examples about the mythological history of Anatolia and explained the evidence supporting that the Ancient Olympic Games were held in Anatolia for the first time. During the presentation full of many interesting topics from Zeus to Hercules, from the Legend of Yanartaş to the Ancient Theaters in the Antalya region; The IVV Olympic torch was lit from Antalya Olympos “Yanartaş”, and the athletes brought it to the Olympic village first in Kemer and then in Antalya Glass Pyramid, and the torches were lit together with the Governor of Antalya. Thus, the fact that the first Olympics were held in Anatolia was accepted by thousands of foreign participants and the world media.

In this organization, which contributed to the country’s tourism and economy, the participants were provided with transportation, accommodation, food and beverage services, tours and shopping opportunities.

Antalya’s magnificent sea, sand and sun trio as well as its historical beauties were revealed on the predetermined tracks where the said sports will be held.

With the tour programs offered before and after the organization, it was possible to visit and see not only Antalya but also other regions and cities.

Turkey and Turkish hospitality with its historical and natural beauties were introduced to all international environmental and nature friends, and contacts were established for them to return to Turkey in the future again..

The tracks prepared are designed to be permanent and appeal not only to the participants who were brought to our country for the 2011 Olympics, but also to a potential group of 3 million people who will come regularly in the coming years.
